Technology is SICK!!!

Nike is one of the biggest companies here on earth. They spent million of dollars to promote their company and products. One of the advertisement I like is Nike + iPod TV commercial "Running + Motivation" (2006) They did a great job producing this advertisement and it catch my attention by me watch this man running; it have iPod that’s communicating to him how far he running or how many miles he have left. This ad makes it memorable and effective to me because I’m a runner and I own a iPod. During my training I use this big GPS watch that tells me how far and how fast I’m running. Here what I see in this commercial it have a little device that connect with the iPod that tells you how far you’re running. I’m like wait a minute. You telling me I can go out a buy this program that can read how far I’m going and does everything else for you while I’m training and here I spent about $300 for a little watch that does more than telling you how fast or how far I ran. All I need a program that can tell me how far and how fast I’m going. Nike just promoted to me that there a simpler program that I can have. I just like watching the guy run and a woman telling him how far he has left to run. The element I found that is “puffery” is the technology is SICK. It’s sick because you have an iPod going on another level that’s use for training. In the future I won’t be surprise that iPod will be use for everything as a daily basic usage for someone that can rely on. The ad really sells because everyone can relate to a how iPod works and all over America there are many runners that use iPod while they are training. It’ll make easier for a person lifestyle that is active. Most people here in America that is active are watching this advertisement because people are looking for something that’ll make it easier for them. The advertisement also targets those who are Nike fans will basically buy everything they need. No, I have not bought the product yet because I DO NOT WATCH TV! I’m now finding out about this product. Someday, I’m planning on buying the product for someone that willing to use this program with their iPod. This would be a great Christmas gift for someone! GET YOUR NOW!!!

What a Life...Future

Having a guest speaker is class is great, but why does our guest speaker either don’t want to show up or come in late? Yes, we understand things come up. At the same time if you’re guest speaker, people are expecting you coming in on time. The guest speaker we had lately was not good and it was too short. We barely know him. Mr. Riff was our guest speaker. Hopefully in the future we’ll have a better guest speaker and come in on time.
Mr. Riff was okay speaker, even though, he came in late. What he shared was about his career life. He was basically almost all over America working a job. Finding out what he really wants to do. He is a writer. I think he started writing professnal early 1990s. After Mr. Riff traveled all over the place in America chasing after his dreams, he finally found his dream which was here in Missouri where he was born. He is a teacher at Lindenwood University. He’ll start teaching next semester called “Electronic Writing.” This is his warning “If you’re going to be in my class, you’re going to have to read and write a lot!” He said all of that because this is part of the future. Media is moving higher and higher here in this world and it’s almost taking over. Future Media We have to be careful and not let the media control everything all the time. We as humans do not need all of that help. That’s why God blessed us a brain like Mr. Riff and us. Let’s not get too lazy and relied on technologies all the time.
In class we have talked about the internet and it’s growing every day. Internet is all over the world. You can go to a poorest place in this world and still fine internet. In the future there will be a lot of job on the internet and businesses. Communication majors will be number one in many different Universities. It’ll be number one job here in America and most of the money will be in that field; however, it’ll be catching up to doctor’s income.

The Future!!!

The Internet and convergence impacted the television industry in many different ways. We have to remember how all of this happened. It came from Information age and digital age. Did I say information age and digital age??? Exactly, that’s how the television industry been impacted from the internet! Information age is “the period beginning around 1970 and noted for the abundant publication, consumption, and manipulation of information, especially by computers and computer networks.”(Answers) People are start to go online to look up everything want to find. It can be movies, television shows, etc... There are about 300 million people are using the internet in this world and there will be about 200 million people more in the year of 2012. Digital age is part of information age. It explains more about how people are using mobile devices, computers, and any kind of electronic devices.

Internet has been a huge impacted to television when World Wide Web lunched 1989. Internet also impacted television industry by advertising. Wow, advertising? Yes, advertising. That’s the number one media in this world. You’ll always see advertising everywhere you travel to. “Internet advertising has frown at annual rates in excess of 30 percent during each of the past three years, and it estimated that the internet will remain the fastest growing advertising medium with a projected 18.3 percent compound annual increase to $73 billion in 2011.”(Intel) That’s a problem for television industry. They won’t be able to do much advertising because Internet is taking over. Television industry has to find a way to get on the level with the Internet; however, internet will be taking off with everything in this world.
Oh Yeah! My favorite blog is “25 Traits of a Leader” (JMG Consulting) what’s that? Ah HA! Let me explain. This is a private blog for business owners. It came from Leadership team Development. I am a business owner and there are many different blog I can tell you; however I only picked one of my favorite blog. My business partner would go online and posts a blog. He’ll put 3 different facts how this impacted me or how change my life. It will help my business partner know how I’m growing everyday in life by me building my business. For example: He would put (1) leaders exhibit excellent character. (2) Leaders speak boldly. Then I would respond to the facts he put or questions. After, we answer it he will keep adding more until we complete the 25 questions or fact he post. This website’s multimedia is components because for once it for business owners and it allow us to ask question, or communicate with other business owners that is part of Leadership Team Development. This blog is not opened to the public. What it does it separate the business owner and non-business owner. It helps us keep business minded or other way you can look at it as a business owner.

Blog is great for everyone to use. It gives up-to-date information and many more usage. Final Debate!!!

The debate was very inserting to hear what Obama and McCain had to say. I’m sure all across America people watched the debate on T.V., internet, radio or other kind of device they used to hear or watch the debate. It was very important for everyone to watch or hear the debate; therefore, to know what kind of candidate to pay attention to. I was basically listening to both of them. There were a lot of thing I did not like and thing I did like. Both of the candidates are great to run the country but only one can run the country as a president.

The way these candidates answered the questions had to be reasonable or else there will be too many pro and con for people to pick what candidate to vote for. It was very challenging for religion people to hear what these candidates had to say or business owners. The channel I watched from is ABC. Mr. Jacobs’s opinion about the debate clear winner is Obama. Mr. Jacobs like when Obama said “It time for those children or adult to stop watching T.V. and children stop playing video game and get to work” That made me laugh. It is about time someone comes up to a place to front these people in this country. Also, Obama said to these people, that he want everyone to have equal dream just like the wealthy people. The problem with that I hope the wealthy people won’t have to be tax so much where it’ll make them mad. Wealthy people worked so hard getting to the level they wanted to be. We’re just going to have to wait and see who win to be the president. What will go down in the history book is, if Obama become the president of United State of America, wealthy people will be upset with Obama for those who making more than $250,000 a year, because they’ll be the one that’s going to be taxed and the money is going to the working families. That’s what going to be in the history books. In the future these candidates sometime got to be smarter for the people who have strong belief in Jesus. Most of these things that Obama said, like for example: Homosexual and abortion both of them do no line up with the word of God. Homosexual will not inheritance God’s kingdom. Also God said “thou shall not kill” Why, would you kill a baby (partial-abortion, or abortion)(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_CxQzm42hE)??? I understand for those who get rape, that’s a different story. That’s one a way that Obama can gain more vote hopefully.
It was very challenging for me to pick what candidate should I vote for to become the president for America. I just follow who going to treat America a better country. Change is a great way but it not going to happen over night. Just like what Obama said, we going to need all of us to work together like Democrat and other parties to become involve. I’m going for Obama. Yes, there are some things I don’t like what Obama said, but I’ll give a shot to vote for him as a president for the next 4 years. No I’m not voting for him just because he black. I’m going for him because he is facing the true what’s happening here in America. It time for CHANGE!!! Do you have a dream???...

Can the Olympics generate a major revenue stream from digital advertising?

Media has been changing every year and increase more impact to more people around this world. In the next ten to twenties years from now media will hit the “S-curve” Which mean that media will be one of the strongest impact to many different kind of people; starting from America. Here are some clues that media will be the strongest. Technology!
Basically, everything that technologies do will help media go on another level. There will be more money flowing to different media companies. The network will just be heavier than today world internet lines, however, the bits will go higher.

There was a story that I read about “Olympics Spark Contest Among TV Broadcaster” The story was nut and this is the future of media. There was a game happening in Beijing which was Olympics game 2008. NBC Universal had said there were “214 million unique television viewers for the Beijing Games, a record that surprised Dick Ebersol, chairman of NBC Sports and Olympics.” See, how media takes over??? That is a lot of people watching the Olympics game. I think that’s more than ever in the past viewers that watch the pervious Olympics game. Oh, yeah do not forget about this, “Now sports broadcasters are trying to evaluate that audience, including the 52 million unique visitors to NBC's Olympics Web site and 75 million video streams. Was it thanks to viewers' interest in China or swimmer Michael Phelps's historic performance? After years of declining ratings, can the Olympics generate a major revenue stream from digital advertising?” Internet is also taking over too. Today world is making it so much easier for everyone to go online to watch the race that already took place in Beijing. They said 52 million and 75 million people went online to check out the web site and the video. 52 plus 75 million people equal 127 million people! Just think about this in the next ten to twenties years from now, and specially the generation z is growing up. That will be over 300 million people hitting to the web site checking out the Olympics games. It may go even higher who know. When it come to American famous athlete person being on T.V. of course people will turn on the T.V. or go online and the network will go over rated. That means that for those who work in the studio will be in pain because of the network.

NBC Universal is doing a lot of work getting ready for the future. There will be more money flowing in their company and there are controversies between other counties about the media rights. Rights are the fee that the counties have to pay. Which is the country is looking at millions of dollars fee to pay. “As the Beijing Games approached, NBC Universal was concerned about the low ratings that Olympic Games in Asia usually generate. NBC Universal created a new method of measuring audience as a kind of insurance policy. The new formula combined the number of television viewers with Internet users and people watching highlights on mobile phones.
The concerns were unfounded. Human-rights controversies and interest in China turned the Olympics into a political event as much as a sports competition. Then swimmer Michael Phelps, whose races were broadcast live in prime time in the Eastern and Central time zones, began his unprecedented run of eight gold medals. Ratings were the highest for a non-U.S. Olympics since Barcelona in 1992, when television viewers had far fewer entertainment options.” That is the problem now with the NBC Universal Company; they are thinking how the time can work together and get more viewers to watch the game live. It would be a very hard job to take place. Who know what will happen to the media in the future. We just got to wait and see!

Time to Change!!!

Media is a huge impacted to many people all across the world. Too many young children are being affected by the media; by watching T.V., billboard, magazines, and more. The number one media impact story I read about is the video games. Video games are even worse when I used to play video games when I was a young boy. Video games had become more technical, more real. Children are be affected by that. They’re being affected by the video games by watching so much violence. “Grand Theft Auto” is one of them. Check this out... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZnYursz7-aY

For children it’s not good for them to be looking at violence. The child may end up trying to do the same thing what they saw and do the same act to another person. For example: “Grand Theft Auto”. The video game of “Grand Theft Auto”, “are particularly troubling because they go beyond just celebrating violence generally, and actually reward players for engaging in organized crime, murdering innocent people and other forms of perverse, antisocial behavior” What a great videos game for children to be playing with huh??? No, too much violence! The children spend too much time playing the video games. There was a story that I read. These 2 youngsters in California were killing people and they got caught, and they told the police that they were imitating the video game “Grand Theft Auto”. See, that’s the problem. I see why the manufacturer got sued for $246 million that made the video game of “Grand Theft Auto”! The children are not being educated to learn how to limited time playing the video game. When I was coming up my mom did not allow me to play video games for hours; however, it falls on the weekend. Yes, Mr. Jacobs, would be playing video games for hours. It’s was so much fun; but, it was not violence. “It was need for speed”! That can cause problem too.

Here the controversies of the media research. “It was designed to help solve social problems by determining the links between media use and harmful behavior. As we emphasized in our examinations of media research history and current theory, the answers that have been found are not as straightforward and clear-cut as some observers would like”. That’s the problem they can’t solve the problem. We got to understand. It’s all about the money. That’s why the media is getting out of control. Others counties are being affected by the media. By 2025, media will go “s-curves”, which mean media will be over rated for children and Adults. The video game may be even worse, picture on the bill board looking ugly, magazines with less clothing. The children mind-set will be a lot of discipline for the mother and father to work on. That’s why mother and father should know for their children what right for them to watch on t.v., video games they’re buying for their children, books they’re reading, and the people they hanging out with. I’m going to make sure my children don’t get caught up in the wrath. Generation X will be the main children that have to be work on. If they don’t be educated now at young age; however, it’ll causes a lot of problem when they turn 13 years old.

International In Shock!!!

The media of Panama has been highly influenced by that of the United States, since the construction of the Panama Canal. Radio broadcasting in Panama began in 1922, and television broadcasting in 1956. Radio and television broadcasts also reached the Panama Canal Zone because it lied within the vicinity of Panama. (Wikipedia) During the interview with the international student with a man name Mr. Menooza. He is from Panama. He had been impact by the media big time. Here are the questions I asked Mr. Menooza...
Jacobs: Is the media the same as America???
Menooza: Yes, it very similar to America.
Jacobs: On Television are they most of them American or panama people???
Menooza: Most of them are panama people but there are some style that the same as America.
Jacobs: How does the magazine or newspaper affect Panama???
Menooza: It affects Panama people very strong. The number one magazine is Teenager.
Jacobs: Oh, really!
Menooza: Yeah!
Jacobs: How do the media affect the children???
Meooza: It affect the children very strong because what they see on TV is what they want for example Iphone, x-box, playsation, toys, and many more.
Jacobs: Do it affect the cultural???
Meooza: Yes it does. Both sexes are being affected by it in many different ways.
Jacobs: Do you think it’s coming from America style???
Meooza: Yes, but not all.
Jacobs: Do you know when media started???
Meooza: It started when Panama Canal had started. Here is the web site that you can check out.http://www.pancanal.com/

In Panama, media is being affected in many different ways. It’s mostly coming from America cultural media and other counties outside of America are getting media from America. The number one media that is mostly seen is on the internet in Panama. Their Media is just like America very high tech. Today world media is be used on the internet. In the future everything will be on the internet. For example, jobs, marketing increase, advertisement, and many more. Media do causes cultural to change or it may increase conflict for many different people in this world. America is a huge impact to many different counties in this world. Many counties in the world are trying to be like America by gaining more freedom which does not always happen because according to their regulation. Compare to the people to American and international person act different. People are affected by media in all different kinds of ways. I would say that those who are part of the generation Y are the strongest impact. The way we run this country by the way we act, dress, talk, technologies changes, the number of families decrease or increase because of media. In the future media will be even stronger impact on people since internet is taking over. Also the generation Z will be impact even stronger than generation Y. But at the same time generation Y will be impacted stronger too. Many different kinds of media will always change every year and more people will see it or hear it. Do not matter where they are in this world they will see media.
